About Me:
Hello! I’’m Alyssa and I’m a former control freak. Gone are the days where I micromanaged my time, my food, and my exercise. Prior to my own therapy, I didn’t think this was something I could heal from – I thought it was an innate character trait. Now I know it was how I managed my anxiety.
Once I realized the connection between my anxiety, feeling out of control around food, and my poor body image- something clicked. I no longer thought I was just weak. I began to learn that I was inadvertently setting myself up to binge and had no idea! I also began to understand that my eating habits was a major way I coped with stress.
As I became comfortable letting go of my “control freak ways”, I began to heal my relationship with food. Now I can keep Reese’s in my house, and they don’t call to me like something out of the twilight zone. I also don’t have to exercise every day, and this no longer impacts my worth.
I work with people who learned that the only way to cope with life’s stress is through food and body manipulation. This strategy was lifesaving at one point, however now my clients find their binging and chronic dieting only leads to poor self-esteem, fractured relationships, and loss of self. They are ready to let go of this coping strategy and find a better way.
